Where do you think is the best place to see art in Brisbane? Is it a traditional gallery? Or perhaps somewhere with great public art? Is there anywhere that offers a great combination of art, food and other activities, such as shopping?

Gallery of Modern Art at South Bank always has fantastic exhibitions running. They often have free admission, and are most inspirational. They have a designated children's gallery and an excellent riverside cafe to digest all the amazing art you've just seen.

Redcliffe Jetty Contemporary Art is a lovely waterfront venue displaying quality Australian art. Surrounded by cafes, coffee shops and restaurants, it is the perfect place to unwind. The bright and diverse and exhibit at RJCA is curated weekly, so you will find something new every time.
Closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

Brisbane has a number of interesting places to see art and the best depends on what sort of art you like.

GoMA in South Brisbane is Australia's most visited art gallery. The range of works are pretty amazing and it attracts kids and families through both having a kids gallery with lots of active things for the young ones, but also including child friendly descriptions to go along with many other artworks. I like to just turn up and wander around when I am in the area and have a little bit of time.

Queensland Art Gallery has a rather boring permanent collection, but features some exciting exhibitions. Keep an eye out for what is on.

The State Library also has some rooms that tend to be more historical than artistic in nature however they will often have some interesting retrospectives.

The problem with art in Queensland is that it is fairly safe. QUT's art museum is more likely to feature something that is less "pop" in nature and worth visiting at their Garden Point Campus.

Parliament house also often has art.

For public outdoor art work, you will find many artworks in the Art and the River Public Art trail along the river at Kangaroo point. http://www.weekendnotes.com/art-river-public-art-trail-brisbane/

Away from these spaces there are not that many good art spaces in Brisbane. Redcliffe has one that opened recently and you can see a few interesting art spaces in Paddington.

I love the fact that the QUT gallery changes its exhibitions on a frequent basis.

Pity it is not a popular gallery. You rarely see anyone in there. I try to go there for every new exhibition
Don't forget the William Robinson gallery in Old Government House. What a quirky artist that man is. I go there at least once a month and always feel uplifted by his works.
