Here's a question I would love to know the answer to!
I know that Flour Power at Highgate Hill have the best jam & cream donuts on the planet, I know that Sol Breads at West End have fabulous breads and savoury foods, and I know that Lift Bakery Cafe at Highgate Hill have divine cakes and brownies; but I don't where to buy a decent burger bun or where I can get all of these things in the one location. Do you?
In your experience, where is the best bakery in Brisbane?
I stumbled upon a little bakery when I was living in Fortitude Valley.
Its called Bred and it is on Brunswick Street The Valley, in the small complex where the IGA is located.
I haven't tried the jam and cream donuts at Flour Power but I would dare suggest that Bred could in fact be a rival with their fresh jam and cream donuts. They have the best fresh cream and are always baked and served super fresh. They are responsible for several kilos I gained living here I'm sure.
Bred also offers, as the name suggests, fabulous baked bread and bread based goods. They also offer some amazing hot savroury foods. Their pies are all delicious but one thing that is unique and so good on offer is their savoury triangle pastries. Try the curried lamb and potato triangles, you will be hooked.
Bred is often open till midnight during the summer months which is almost too convenient for that pastry or donut fix.
