I'm committed to reducing the chemical exposure for my family and try to purchase as many organic items as possible.
We've started our own veggie patch, but where else can we get good value and high quality organic food in Brisbane? Are there markets that are the best? Or do we go with one of the direct to door delivery services?
There's an organic stall at West End markets which is very reasonable (there are three in total but the first one you come to if you're coming in from Montague Rd is the cheapest). I find the prices at health food stores like Mrs Flannerys outrageous.
Personally I get a weekly delivery from Home Fresh Organics - reasonable prices and the quality is fantastic. They sell both organic and non-organic so you mix it up like I do - I try and buy organic produce that is on the Dirty Dozen list and when the budget is being stretched I buy non-organic off the Clean Fifteen list.
Northey Street Markets (Sunday mornings) are excellent, with oddles of seasonal produce and a wholesome vibe - also Food Connect have an economical system set up supporting local farmers and deliver to most suburbs (you pick it up from a central hub called a City Cousin). Yum -- and happy gardening.
